What is Royal Rangers?

Royal Rangers is a worldwide boys ministry designed to reach, teach and keep boys for Christ. As one of America's largest and foremost adventure programs, it ministers weekly to thousands of boys 5-17 years old. It was created by the Assemblies of God in 1962, and has grown to more nations than ever imagined.

Royal Rangers believes in the development of the total boy for Christ. A boy grows mentally, physically, spiritually, and socially. We want to challenge boys in those areas through indoor and outdoor activities such as recreation, first aid, crafts, nature study, trips, Bible study, camping, the ability to earn awards, local, sectional, district, and national events. These things help to build bridges to the hearts of young men, give them a chance to make new friends, and affords them the opportunity of having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

The local Outpost under the direction of the Outpost Commander directs the activities of an outpost such as weekly meetings, camping trips, and hikes. The Outpost Commander also plans meetings and activities to help boys grow, spiritually, physically, mentally, and socially. In our weekly outpost meetings, Rangers learn to live by the Royal Ranger Code, through teaching and by example. Guided by well-trained, Godly leaders, boys start on the Advancement Trail to a lifelong commitment to Christ.

What is the Royal Rangers Code?
The Rangers Code gives eight points for our young men to strive for in their growth to become strong Christians and men of honor.
Royal Ranger CODE A ROYAL RANGER IS

ALERT He is mentally, physically and spiritually alert.
CLEAN He is clean in body, mind and in speech.
HONEST He does not lie, cheat or steal. COURAGEOUS He is brave in spite of danger, criticism or threats.
LOYAL He is faithful to his church, family, outpost and friends.
COURTEOUS He is polite, kind and thoughtful.
OBEDIENT He obeys his parents, leaders and those in authority.
SPIRITUAL He prays, reads the Bible and witnesses.

Buckaroos (Ages 7-8, Second-Third Grades): The Buckaroos program features a western theme that is exciting and wholesome for boys of this age. As a Buckaroo, a boy learns both the fundamental truths of the Bible and the Royal Rangers ministry. Emphasis is placed on learning the Royal Rangers Code. The lessons build on the foundations formed in Straight Arrows as they earn four additional advancement pins.

Trailblazers (Ages 12-14, Sixth-Ninth Grades): This adventure trail is designed to provide new challenges by offering a variety of new campcraft skills and opportunities. Trailblazers are encouraged to become self-reliant and appreciative of God by developing his outdoors knowledge and skills. There are five advancement ratings that a Trailblazer can earn, as well as the optional Gold Track, which offers more advanced challenges. There are more than one hundred merit awards that are available to Trailblazers.

Challengers (Ages 15-17, Tenth-Twelfth Grades): Offering advanced opportunities for young men, Challengers presents a unique chance for Rangers to branch out into different areas of knowledge and expertise. The Challengers program has three paths available for participants.

Trail Rangers, where a boy learns the techniques for advanced camping. He becomes familiar with the outdoors and develops important know-how in the techniques of survival. With his knowledge of the out-of-doors, he becomes an experienced woodsman.

Harvesters engage in Christian growth, evangelism and discipleship through hands-on and study applications. A young man in the Harvesters path can participate in outreach ministry within his community, in other cities of his country or even internationally.

Air Rangers is where a young man begins his exploration of the air by studying the history of flight, followed by technical studies in aircraft. He also learns about the latest frontiers of space.
